The German Two-Wheeler Industry Association has presented the industry figures for 2024. After the gold rush at the beginning of the pandemic, full warehouses put pressure on prices, sales and production figures in the previous year. Recovery not expected until 2026.  

The 2024 market figures that have just been published paint a bleak picture of the bike industry, with sales continuing to fall at a devastating rate. On paper, the bike industry appears to be in free fall after the coronavirus peak, especially the mountain bike sector.

The crisis in the bicycle industry has also hit the Austrian market. However, the decline was less severe than expected. The number of e-bikes sold actually increased in 2024 thanks to strong support from subsidy programs.
