Auf Karacho gebürstet: BMC Trailfox AMP SX
The AMP from BMC is already no slouch in its current version: the E8000 drive from Shimano is a joy to ride, and with 150 millimeters of travel at the front and rear, the Grenchen-based bolide can also take on difficult terrain. It is also remarkable how the BMC engineers have managed to accommodate the expansive Shimano battery (aka "bread box") in the down tube in an elegant and almost inconspicuous way.
And now the bike builders from Grenchen want more, with the AMP SX: this new version is brushed to the max. A 170 mm Fox 36 fork gives the bike more suspension, while the rear suspension remains at 150 millimetres. The long-travel fork flattens the steering angle to a downhill-friendly 65 degrees, while the bottom bracket is raised a little. To keep the presumably higher speed under control, the bike is equipped with a Renthal Fatbar handlebar with a 35 millimeter clamp and a width of 80 millimeters for an impressive visual appearance. The MT7 brakes with 200 mm rotors should provide extremely reliable deceleration. The tires are also designed for rough terrain: downhill tires from Vittoria are fitted, which, with a width of 2.5 inches and a reinforced carcass, should ensure flat-free, untroubled riding fun.
