The Canadian clothing specialists at 7mesh have used the lightest Gore-Tex® fabric to create an extremely lightweight, extremely waterproof and breathable rain jacket called the Oro. Although intended for use on racing bikes, the Oro should also be of interest to weight-conscious touring mountain bikers thanks to its extremely small pack size.

7mesh uses Gore-Tex® Active fabric with Shakedry™ technology for the Oro jacket. This allows the jacket to have a very lightweight construction, yet it is extremely breathable and permanently waterproof and windproof - ideal for when you're going uphill in the pouring rain. In addition, the "Shakedry" surface film ensures that the jacket repels water, keeping it very breathable and making it easy to shake dry.

Thanks to its small pack size, the Oro fits in any jersey pocket. That's why it's perfect for bike tours where you only want to take the essentials with you. As mentioned, it is designed for road cycling. This means that in the event of a fall, the lightweight protection will break more quickly than a jacket made from robust Gore-Tex® Pro material, for example. In terms of comfort, however, the Oro should open a new chapter.
