Atherton clan now under contract with Trek

The Kelly family of cycling, the Atherton clan, is now under contract with Trek. It was announced last week that the English riders had not renewed their contract with GT Bicycles. Taylor Vernon is still in the team boat.

With world champion Rachel Atherton and her brother Gee Atherton, the team has two of the best downhillers of their time. Next year, Dan Atherton will mainly be on the road as a consultant for the downhill team, and he will also compete in two or three Enduro World Series races. The team will be using the full Trek product range, including the Bontrager product line.

The transfer merry-go-round in downhill racing continues apace. Various rumors are currently doing the rounds about the whereabouts of the Trek riders (MacDonald and Brannigan), as well as the future path of Aaron Gwin (linked to YT). The whereabouts of ex-Atherton team member and enduro high-flyer Martin Maes are also unknown at the moment.
