As a 29er e-enduro—or optionally as an MX—Nicolai’s S16 MGU model combines the so-called S full-suspension platform with the Pinion motor-gearbox unit. The MGU is a unique drive system that combines a wear-free, brushless high-performance motor and a 12-speed transmission with 600% total gear ratio, capable of shifting under load, all within a compact housing. But that’s not all.

Nicolai is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The company has already presented itself at this year's Eurobike under the motto "Three Decades Of Manufacturing Excellence", and the upcoming anniversary in-house exhibition will also be dedicated to this milestone birthday.

On June 28 and 29, the Bellwald Bike Park and Rodeo Bike will be hosting the legendary Riding High Festival. The bike park will be fully open, the hottest brands will be bringing their test bikes and raclette, barbecue, cold beer and a party will be provided.

With the S18 SWIFT, Nicolai is expanding its electrified S-series with a new top model for demanding big mountain adventures. As a super enduro bike with 180 millimetres of suspension travel, the e-mountain bike sets new standards in terms of downhill performance, motor power and system integration - and also marks the sporty pinnacle of the S series, which was previously represented by the S14 SWIFT trail bike and the S16 MGU all-mountain/enduro model.

Nicolai makes no secret of it: this e-mountain bike is all about the downhill. 180 millimeters of travel at the rear and front provide enough reserves. The Nicolai S18 Swidft has a Bosch motor on board to ensure you don't run out of puff uphill.

In 2024, Nicolai presented its latest gravity machine, the G1. With the G1 GPI, the first-born has now been given a brother that carries the same genes, but at the same time places a strong focus on durability, long-term reliability and minimal maintenance. At the heart of the frame is a Pinion C1.12 12-speed gearbox, which is shifted electronically and transmits power to the rear wheel via a Gates Carbon Drive drive belt.

In order to avoid a trademark dispute, Nicolai has decided to rename the Saturn model range. The Nicolai models "Saturn 16 MGU", "Saturn 14 Swift", "Saturn 16", "Saturn 14" and "Saturn 11" are now called: S16 MGU, S14 Swift, S16, S14 and S11. The change also includes all other model variants, as well as frame kits and model-specific spare parts. There are no technical or price changes.

Germany's aluminum specialist Nicolai introduces the electric Smart.Shift gearshift for Pinion transmissions for the first time and presents two new bikes equipped with this system: The gravel bike Argon GX PI and the all-gravity machine G1 GPI.

What does a modern E-Enduro look like according to Nicolai? It has Pinion's motor-gearbox unit with a Gates belt on board, is equipped with 29er wheels, offers 160 millimetres of suspension travel and 720 to 960 watt hours of battery capacity. Except for the weight, the scales are a little saggy at around 27 kilos.

With the launch of the SWIFT model series, Nicolai presents two electrified, lightweight, full-suspension trail bikes equipped with the brand-new Bosch SX drive: the Saturn 11 SWIFT and the Saturn 14 SWIFT with 150 millimeters of travel at the front and 130 millimeters at the rear. With the new SWIFT series, Nicolai wants to appeal to people who want more agile and, above all, lighter e-bikes that are closer to organic bikes in terms of handling and riding dynamics.

The new Nicolai G18 Hammer is a thoroughbred freerider and nothing else. Not a compromise, not an all-rounder, and not a jack of all trades. When developing the G18 Hammer, Nicolai worked closely with team rider Max Kruse, one of the few German freeriders who not only competes in formats such as the Fest Series, but has also been at home on the jumplines in the Moto X format for years and is constantly driving the progression of this sport.

"Nicolai Racing fueled by Fidlock" is the name of the new enduro racing team from German frame manufacturer Nicolai. The small but mighty team includes Lena Arndt, Marvin Kaufmann and Tim Schüz.

Low weight is usually associated with carbon. Now Nicolai proves that this is also possible with aluminum and presents the Saturn 11 SL, a down-country bike that breaks the ten-kilogram mark. With exquisite parts, however, this elegant model is only available in a limited edition.

In April, Nicolai Saturn 16 caused a sensation. Now the milling specialists are following up with a lightweight cross-country full suspension, which has variety up its sleeve, especially when it comes to shifting options.

The Nucleon 16 from Nicolai is a high-pivot 29er enduro bike with a mullet option in the 160 - 180 millimeter travel class, which uses a new type of shifting technology: the Supre Drivetrain from the Canadian development company Lal Bikes by Cedric Eveleigh. Sounds rather sober, but is visually and technically brilliant.

It doesn't always have to be full suspension: If you want to experience mountain biking in a purist form, you should once again opt for a hardtail. So it's just in time that the milling popes at Nicolai have really spring-cleaned their hardtail portfolio. The brand-new Argon GAM is particularly eye-catching, bursting with Nicolai DNA.

The German custom-made specialist Nicolai has never been afraid to think outside the box. The best and latest proof of this is the Nicolai "Eboxx Ultra". This machine ensures a smooth transition from e-mountain bike to motocross machine.

You want a trail bike? There are countless models. Do you want an aluminum frame with modern geometry? There is a good selection. Do you want a Pinion gearbox and Gates belt for the drive? Then the air is getting thin, but with this kind of interest you can now also end up at Nicolai. Because the Saturn model in the 14 GPI version says goodbye to the chain and presents itself with 130 millimetres of travel in the 29er version or with 138 millimetres of travel at the rear at 27.5 inches.

What if the e-mountainbike is so much fun that you want to ride it every day? Then you're in luck if you ride a Nicolai with an Eboxx frame. Because this can be easily converted from an off-road bike to a commuter bike.

Will Bosch be bringing a new Performance CX motor? And how does it ride? These questions have recently been answered. But what do new e-mountainbikes with the new motor look like? There are still a few question marks - except at Nicolai. The German bike manufacturer is showing a bike with the new CX unit, but - as usual with Nicolai - it is clearly outside the mainstream.

Nicolai is sending the new Saturn 14 into orbit. If you consider carbon to be dispensable and go into raptures about precise milling and welding work, this bike could be just the thing for you. The Nicolai makers have responded to customer wishes and created a modern 140 millimeter trail bike. The pictures of the bike will make you want to indulge.

What will the e-mountain bike of the future look like? The Eboxx 14 is Nicolai's answer to this question. The derailleur gear system gives way to the long-lasting Gates belt in combination with the virtually indestructible Rohloff hub, which can even be shifted electrically under load in this bike. The German milling and welding artists also go their own way when it comes to riding characteristics.

We already know this in Switzerland: Bold actively seeks proximity to the customer and offers a test ride on the home trail. This example is now setting a precedent, as Nicolai and its three employees offer test rides throughout Germany. The manufacturer even rolls up for repairs.
