For years, the Canyon athletes of the Topeak Ergon Racing Team have made a name for themselves when it comes to the global leadership in the MTB marathon circuit or the most prestigious stage races à la Absa Cape Epic or Bike Transalp. And even changing the team name to Canyon Topeak Factory Racing at the beginning of 2018 did nothing to dampen the team's success - one of the biggest constants in all these years: Kristian Hynek, now 40 years old and one of the world's most experienced marathon racers with a palmarès to be proud of: two World Championship bronze medals, one silver (2012, 2016, 2019), European Marathon Champion 2012, Czech XCM National Champion 2013 and 2018, Cape Epic winner 2014 (with Robert Mennen). When Canyon withdrew as the main sponsor at the beginning of 2019, Kristian Hynek moved on and founded his own XCM project - still supported by Canyon. Now they are both going one step further and launching the "Canyon Northwave MTB Team".

"Kristian, together with Martin Stosek, has proven to be a very committed, reliable and successful partner over the last two years," says Canyon Prosport Manager Andreas Walzer, looking back on the recent past. "In a way, it is therefore a logical consequence for us to expand this commitment and support Kristian's vision of his own multinational marathon team."

"For me personally, this partnership is essential and by far the best and most successful of my entire career," says Kristian Hynek, describing his connection to Canyon. "It is a strong sign for me that Canyon not only continues to place its trust in my team and me, but is even expanding its commitment."

The Canyon Northwave MTB Team is starting its first season with a strong line-up: alongside Kristian Hynek (CZE), Martin Stossek (CZE), Dominik Buksa (CZE) and Andreas Seewald (GER) will be at the start. Depending on the competition, either the Lux CF SLX race bike or the Exceed hardtail will be used. The undisputed highlight of the season is the battle for the rainbow jersey at the XCM World Championships on October 2 on Elba (Italy), but the Canyon Northwave MTB Team is already looking to make its mark at the European Championships on June 20 in Evolène (Switzerland), other major events such as the South African prestige race Absa Cape Epic, the entire Marathon World Cup and the respective national championships in the Czech Republic and Germany.
