The realization of the bike park in Vofeld has caused quite a stir in the Zurich mountain bike scene. Planning has been underway for many years and skeptics already saw the bike park near Sihlcity as a paper tiger. With the definitive approval of the necessary construction loan and concessions to critics, these concerns have finally been put to rest and the excavators can get to work. The bike park will cleverly combine the three "worlds" of BMX, dirt jumps and pump track. The course elements are made of stabilized material that allows intensive use in all weathers and minimizes maintenance costs. The entire area is loosely planted with trees. The areas that cannot be driven on are planted with greenery. A recreation area chaussured with fine gravel with benches and drinking fountains is available for general use.

Construction work is scheduled to begin this fall and the long-awaited opening should be celebrated in spring 2013.
