The reservation requirement for bicycle transport on Postbuses comes as no surprise, especially as corresponding regulations were already introduced in the canton of Graubünden in summer 2024 with the prospect of implementing them uniformly and nationally. The time has now come in 2025. The reservation requirement will be introduced on tourist Postbus routes where bicycles are carried on rear carriers or trailers. The regulation affects around 140 routes in Graubünden, Valais, the Bernese Oberland and Central Switzerland. For the time being, Ticino and conurbations in which the bike is transported in the passenger compartment are excluded.

The regulation applies during the summer, although the seasonality may vary depending on the region (activity of the mountain railroads, accessibility of the Alpine passes). PostBus Switzerland assumes an annual base time window from May 1 to October 30.

In future, a reservation will cost two francs for the entire route, including any transfers. This is PostBus' way of counteracting multiple bookings. As with the railroad, reservations are made via the SBB mobile app. As a result, the Resabike system in Valais will not be continued.
