When things get exciting on the trails, a good pair of platform pedals can mean the difference between a shaky ride and a perfect ride. That's why Canyon has set itself the goal of building the perfect mountain bike flat pedal. It offers excellent grip, one of the largest footprints and an impressive 200 kilograms of maximum load, all wrapped up in a light and elegant aluminum casing.

Tested by the best

To build the best components, you need input from the best riders. The Performance mountain bike platform pedals are the result of intensive collaboration between Canyon product developers and a selection of mountain bike pros. After more than two years of development and rigorous testing with Canyon riders from the freeride and downhill scene, the time has come. The performance mountain bike platform pedals are packed with premium-class features and materials, come in Canyon's minimalist style and are designed to impress with grip, resilience and durability.

Canyon Product Manager Johannes Wetzel reports on the development process: "If you want to push the boundaries of design and development, you need valuable feedback from riders who push these limits of what is possible on their bikes every day. So of course we were excited to work with our mountain bike pros on these pedals. Right from the start, they helped us to identify exactly the features that make a pedal perfect - the ideal balance of grip, robustness, lightness and durability. They also gave us valuable feedback on the construction and design, which we were able to integrate into the design of the pedals. We are more than satisfied with the result."

The pedals at a glance

Ultra-stable stand. At the express request of the Canyon pros, the contact surface is double concave on both sides. This shape holds the foot securely in place so that you are standing "in" the pedal and not just on top of it. The milled pedal axles and carefully matched pin lengths make a decisive contribution to this.

Furthermore, the aluminum pedal body together with robust steel axles and sealed ball bearings ensure long durability with a race-ready weight. Ten interchangeable pins per side provide plenty of grip. For more customization options, Canyon will also offer different pins (spear pins and longer pins) in the near future.

Specially shaped edges are less likely to get caught on rocks, additional embossing provides even more grip, and thanks to the eight millimetre hexagon socket (smaller pedal) and six millimetre hexagon socket (larger pedal), they can be fitted in no time at all.

For continuous hard use on muddy trails, the ball bearings can be replaced if necessary. Canyon will offer a service kit for this, which includes new ball bearings, seals and dust covers as well as the necessary tools.

The pedal is available in two sizes for shoe sizes 36-42 and 43-48 and in two looks, in "Stealthy Black" or "Flash White Raw".

Two plastic pedals to follow soon

Two more pedals will be added in the course of the year. The Canyon mountain bike platform pedal adopts the design of the Performance model at a more affordable price. Made from reinforced nylon composite material with high-quality CrMo axles and sealed bearings, these pedals are set to set new standards in their price class in terms of durability and performance.

But that's not all: the Canyon Urban platform pedals are based on the design language of Canyon's popular city bikes. Thanks to reflectors, optional logo plates and an extremely non-slip surface, they provide a secure grip for carefree everyday riding.

The Canyon Performance mountain bike platform pedals will be available to order from June 28 for 99.95 euros. The other pedals will follow in the course of the year.
