The Epic Series has established itself as the global leader in mountain bike stage racing, providing thousands of riders from around the world with challenging and exciting races on the world's best trails. To give even more people the opportunity to experience the competitive spirit and glory of the Epic Series, the organization is pleased to present "Explore".

In addition to the European events - 4Islands Epic, Andorra Epic Pyrenees and the SPAR Swiss Epic - Explore offers more mountain bikers the opportunity to experience the challenges and uniqueness of the Epic Series. With the solo format limited to a small number of participants, each Explore event will immerse mountain bikers in the special features of the Epic Series. Although the races are less challenging due to fewer stages, the memories created will last a lifetime and potentially inspire participation in an Epic Series event in the future.

"We are excited to introduce the Explore concept to the global mountain bike market and believe it will appeal to many riders who dream of participating in an Epic Series event but have not felt able to do so until now," says Jonathan Meintjes, Head of Mountain Biking EMEA at Ironman Group. "Each Explore event will feature iconic destinations and world-class service, but will be less demanding than the typical four- to five-day Epic Series races. This shorter format ensures that participants of varying abilities and fitness levels can experience some of the remarkable trails, stunning scenery and immersive community spirit that the Epic Series is known for - without the large
time commitment that the main events require. The Explore events welcome both experienced racers and newcomers alike and offer two unforgettable days of riding, camaraderie and pure enjoyment, both on and off the bike."

The first Explore event will take place during the 2025 4Islands Epic from April 15-19. Registrations will be in solo format and access will be limited to a small number of participants to ensure the best experience. These daring explorers will take part in the first two stages of the race on the Kvarner islands of the Adriatic. After that, Explore participants can sign up for the final stages on the weekend of the Andorra Epic Pyrenees from July 3 to 6 and the SPAR Swiss Epic from August 13 to 17.

Explore dates

• Andorra Explore: July 5 - 6, 2025

Each of these events will showcase the remarkable beauty of the regions where the Epic Series events take place and highlight the impressive trails. "The Explore events are a taster and offer a tantalizing glimpse into all that makes the Epic Series so special," smiles Meintjes. "Taking part in an Explore event could be the introduction to stage racing or reignite the fire to prepare for a longer race in the future."
