Focus had a clear vision for their lightweight e-mountainbike: Reduced to the absolute minimum to have the most fun on every trail. A lightweight full carbon frame - completely designed for minimum weight without sacrificing user-friendliness and stability, plus super-compact Ride 60 E support from Fazua. Also important: a fun-oriented geometry with 150 and 160 millimetres of travel - agile on the trail without neglecting the stability of the bike.

More than just a top and down tube

Focus analyzed every little detail to design the carbon layers as thick as necessary for high stability and as thin as possible for low weight. In the end, the engineers found the most radical and minimalist way to optimize the cross-section of the top tube with an ideal ratio of stiffness, modern design and low weight.

In addition, a low standover height was essential to guarantee perfect handling of the bike. This led to a partial integration of the shock into the top tube to provide ample freedom of movement on the bike. All adjustment elements of the shock are easy to reach despite the integration.

To emphasize the clear idea and lightness of this e-mountainbike, the JAM² SL shows the in-house design elements in their most reduced form. The clean silhouette and uncluttered shapes combined with our distinctive, tie-shaped top tube represent the latest iteration of the Focus design language.

Focus' engineers have developed a sleek design for the down tube without neglecting functionality. The motor and battery of our JAM² SL are fully integrated. This ensures optimum protection of the e-drive and ensures that this e-mountainbike not only rides like a bike without an e-drive, but also looks like one.

The sophisticated carbon layout creates the perfect balance between low weight and high rigidity. In addition, the user-friendliness of the lightweight e-mountain bike was of crucial importance in its development. All battery charging options were tested in order to achieve the highest possible flexibility with the lowest possible weight. A removable battery was chosen, which the user can simply remove from the underside of the down tube. To open the down tube cover, simply use the Allen key on the thru axle of the JAM² SL. This means you always have the only tool you need to hand. After opening the cover, the "FAZUA ENERGY" 430 battery can be removed with just one click.

A tidy cockpit

The specially developed C.I.S. (Cockpit Integration Solution) design ensures a super tidy look on the cockpit and guarantees flawless shifting and braking at all times. All cables run from the handlebars into the stem and through the headset into the frame of the JAM² SL.

Customizable geometry

The steering angle of the new JAM² SL can be easily changed between 64.5° and 65.5° by turning the headset shells. If you choose a steeper steering angle, this results in more agile handling of the bike. The slacker position ensures a more uphill-oriented setting. Adjusting the handling of this lightweight e-bike to your personal preferences has no influence on the seat angle or other parameters.

Thanks to Focus' flip chips on the rear triangle, you can adjust the geometry of the bike to suit your riding style. The adjustment from 440 to 447 millimeters changes the entire set-up. When the flip chips are set to a long position, the JAM² SL rides more stable and makes steep climbs easier. If you prefer manuals and a more agile geometry, set them to the short position

Based on these two components, the geometry of the JAM² SL can be customized with four variants: with a slack or steep head angle and long or short chainstays. These options ensure that the geometry of the bike is balanced and tailored to your size.

Fazua's Ride 60 drive system offers a natural riding feel while still giving you full backing. The compact and lightweight, yet powerful drive unit has 60 Nm of torque and a maximum output of 450 Nm. Thanks to the boost function, even the steepest climbs can be mastered. The Fazua system fits in perfectly with Focus' idea of a lightweight e-mountain bike and is fully integrated into the down tube. What's more, the quiet motor doesn't distract from the full riding experience, so you can lose yourself completely in the flow both uphill and downhill.

Thanks to the high efficiency of the Fazua system and a 430 Wh battery, the ride doesn't stop until you've reached your personal rider's high. If you need even more energy, a range extender offers a further 210 Wh. The drive system already has three different riding modes. In addition, the motor support can be individually adapted to your riding preferences via the Fazua app. The maximum power (Max Power), the support ratio (Support Relation) and the responsiveness and acceleration (Ramp-up) are set according to personal requirements.

The kinematics

F.O.L.D. stands for Focus Optimized Linkage Design and the optimization never stops. With the JAM² SL, Focus have reduced the number of linkage parts in their F.O.L.D. and thus significantly reduced weight. The new kinematics further reduce the influence of braking and give the rider maximum control over their bike in every situation.

Balanced carbon frame

Focus carbon technology is set to set new standards for lightweight e-mountainbike designs. The fibre-optimized design of the JAM² SL optimizes the stiffness-to-weight ratio. A perfect blend of high-strength and high-tenacity fibers was used for the carbon layup. These fibers are able to cope with the strong forces involved in e-mountain biking and at the same time offer high frame stiffness for agile steering behavior.

The MAX carbon layup optimizes the weight of the JAM² SL 9.0 and 9.9 models even further: It contains a significant amount of high modulus fibers that save even more weight without neglecting stiffness. By using carbon for the front and rear frame triangle, Focus engineers were able to realize the clear vision of a stiff and stable but lightweight e-mountain bike. The perfect coordination of design and material underlines the clear idea and lightness of the JAM² SL.

Four models plus...

On the JAM² SL, all frame bearings are fitted with an additional seal to extend their service life. In addition, all areas that are exposed to a higher risk of damage, such as the down tube and the chain stay, are fitted with special frame protection. To protect the JAM² SL from damage to the paintwork, the accessory kit also includes custom-made frame stickers.

The four models JAM² SL 9.0, Jam SL 9.9, Jam SL 8.8 and Jam SL 8.7 are available in sizes S to XL and weigh 17.9, 19.19, 19.69 and 20.19 kilograms respectively. You can call one of these models your own for 11,499, 8499, 6999 or 6199 euros.
