The fact that the Ikarus caravan is anything but an ordinary trailer for camping vacations begins with its exterior appearance with wooden shingles and continues inside. The interior of the small mobile home is made from natural materials without harmful substances, such as Swiss stone pine and sheep's wool insulation. The wood-burning stove and underfloor heating, powered by solar cells on the roof, ensure a cozy warmth.

Today's society wants to be mobile and flexible, also in terms of where they work. The "Ikarus" caravan takes this into account and offers a small apartment for modern nomads. However, the mobile home of an architect and a civil engineer, which was created as a self-build project, is more than just "four walls on wheels". Right from the start of the project in 2020, the two had the goal of significantly improving the quality of living and quality of life by using only natural materials compared to conventional caravans. Solid wood and insulation made from sheep's wool and wood fibers ensure a healthy indoor climate. To ensure that the needs for independence and peace and quiet are compatible with those of freedom-lovers, the mobile home can travel as a trailer with a suitable towing vehicle at a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour. Once you have reached the desired location as a temporary residence, two balconies and the bed can be extended as a platform. This considerably expands the eleven square meters of living space and, in addition to the fully equipped kitchen, creates room for dinner for up to four people. The two inventors have put the prototype "Ikarus" through its paces over the past few months. The experience gained is now being incorporated into further development, with the aim of producing customized small apartments on wheels in small series.
