Ibis launches a fat bike for the first time

Although the fat bike boom has slowed down, this is no reason not to enter this niche. The cult brand Ibis is offering one of the classy variety - the Trans-Fat. The lightweight frame is based on the carbon main frame of the "Tranny 29" and comes with a wide rear triangle. The Trans-Fat is considered a very sporty fattie.

The Trans-Fat from Ibis is designed to stand out from other fat bikes thanks to its sportiness. It is also not a completely new development but uses the frame triangle of the "Tranny 29" twentyniner hardtail. This has an interchangeable rear triangle, making the transformation to a fat bike obvious. The Trans-Fat only has a wide rear triangle and the 120 millimeter Rock-Shox Bluto makes the steering and seat angle one degree slacker.

Ibis uses four-inch wide tires on its fat bike, which are lighter and have a more lively ride feel than the slower five-inch tires used on most fat bikes. Another advantage of the narrower tires is that the chainstays are shorter, which also makes the bike more agile. This should make the Trans-Fat a lot of fun on all surfaces, whether snow, sand or dirt.
