This police report is currently making the rounds in the Austrian media: A man was riding his mountain bike on a tarmac road from Selkach in Carinthia towards St. Egyden at 6 p.m. last Tuesday. In the process, he collided with a deer. 

The road rides through a forest in places and partly downhill towards Treffen and St. Egyden. It is therefore quite possible that the mountain biker was traveling at speed. The road also describes a sharp right-hand bend. The police have not revealed whether the collision happened in this single unclear area.

The 32-year-old from Seeboden on Lake Millstatt was so seriously injured in the fall that he had to be flown by helicopter to the accident hospital in Klagenfurt. The Carinthian police report that the deer continued to run away.
