The almost 3,500 rides on the Üetliberg Trail that can be traced back to the use of the train show that there is a need for rail transportation. "There are still too many false images of bikers in people's minds," says Züritrail's President Frank Wadenpohl, explaining the commission's defeat. "Bikers who use the track are still seen as unsportsmanlike hooligans."

However, Wadenpohl does not want to give up now: "We must continue to fight and, above all, finally change the images in people's minds". To this end, the Züritrails association wants to continue to seek dialog and spread more knowledge and understanding about mountain bikers in the region. Above all, however, bikers should not now confirm the images of the bike hooligan and allow themselves to become embroiled in conflicts. The day will come when bikers can legally ride on the Üetlibergbahn - it just won't be as soon as we had hoped.
