"It would be a huge honor for the sport of mountain biking," says Sina Frei almost selflessly in the SRF video portrait. The Swiss cross-country athlete has been nominated for the "SRF 3 Best Talent Sport" award for young talent, and that comes as no surprise. In her last U23 year, the athlete from the Zurich Oberland was still able to compete in the elite races, where she was not just a participant. At the World Cup opener in Albstadt, she was among the front runners and finished a strong eleventh. Things got even better, with the 22-year-old riding into the top five three times in the main races. Frei crowned her outstanding season with the U23 world title and starts the new year in sixth place in the world rankings.

In addition to Sina Frei, track and field athlete Jason Joseph and ski acrobat Noé Roth have also been nominated for the Young Talent Award. The winner will be honored at the "Sports Awards". The online voting runs until Wednesday, December 11, 2019, the Sports Awards will follow on Sunday, December 15 and will be broadcast on SRF1, RTS Deux and RSI LA2 from 8.05 p.m.
