The news about the Stromer store closures in Zurich and Kriens comes at an inopportune time for Reto Schläfli. Schläfli is an employee at the Stromer and Squadra Mondo store in Kriens and is currently in negotiations with Squadra Mondo Retail AG. Schläfli's aim is to continue to run the same location on his own, together with another employee at the Kriens store. It will not be a franchise operation of Squadra Mondo, but will be launched as an independent bike store with a new name.

"We don't want to send out the signal to customers that it will soon be over here in Kriens. We are very confident that we will soon continue here under our own name, even if the contracts have not yet been signed," Schläfli told Ride.
