Four medals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and six at the European Championships in Novi Sad: In the sport of mountain biking, Swiss Cycling has a lot going for it - and the next highlight is just around the corner. Switzerland will be represented at the World Championships in Val di Sole with a 44-strong team, and in the Italian region of Trentino the selection is aiming for top places in all competitions.

In mid-July, 30 cross-country athletes had already been selected. Following their successful performance at the European Championships, a quintet consisting of Ronja Blöchlinger, Rebekka Estermann, Ramona Forchini, Steffi Häberlin and Fabio Spena was nominated. Downhill national coach Alice Kühne's squad includes three female athletes and six male athletes, led by defending champion Camille Balanche.
In Val di Sole, a world champion and a world champion in short track will be determined for the first time; these races, which last just over 20 minutes, will take place on Thursday, August 26.XCO women's elite
