Julbo Forest Evo

First impression
The all-mountain helmet with Mips insert has 19 ventilation openings and breathable inner padding made of Coolmax material. The Vizor can be fixed in two positions. When it is in the upper position, there is space to slide bike goggles into the openings provided or to park a goggle. If the Vizor is in the lower position, goggles can still be placed in the two rubberized ventilation openings from behind. Julbo calls this the "Dual Eyewear Storage System". The all-round head adjustment is also height-adjustable. The "Forest Evo" is available in six colors and two sizes.

In use
The side straps can be easily adjusted using the dividers. These are relatively bulky, but are neither bulky nor get in the way when riding. The chin strap with Fidlock fastener is also very handy, but the retracting strap must be fixed with the elastic band, otherwise it will loosen during the day and the strap will no longer fit perfectly on the chin

The front goggle parking option is basically a good solution, but you can save yourself the effort of always pushing up the Vizor first. As the rear option is easy to find thanks to the rubberized openings, it is easier to park the goggles there. In terms of ventilation, the "Forest Evo" plays in the top league.

Conclusion
The "Forest Evo" from Julbo has a high-quality finish and can withstand a lot thanks to its all-round edge protection. The good ventilation system with numerous openings makes it a cool head protector on hot days. The only annoying thing is the sticker with the size information on the back, which has a glue that is difficult to remove and leaves unsightly marks on the back.

Uvex Pace Stage CV

First impression
The lens of the "Pace Stage" goggles from Uvex has a total of twelve ventilation slits. This literally screams hot airflow that needs to be cooled. The matt elements and edges make up the striking design of the glasses. The temples are comfortable and barely noticeable on the head. The "Pace Stage" can be individually adjusted thanks to the large adjustment range of the nose pads. The glasses are available in several colors and with different lenses.

In use
The Colorvision (CV) lens technology from Uvex ensures good contrast values and is slightly color-enhancing. The protection against wind is absolutely top, as is the large field of vision. Due to their low weight, they are hardly noticeable and thanks to the efficient ventilation, it does not get hot under the lens. They don't sit as tightly on the forehead as other glasses, so body heat escapes well.

Conclusion
The "Pace Stage" is very suitable for hot bike days, as it doesn't fit so tightly on the head, but still provides excellent protection against draughts and wind. The Uvex lens shields the sunlight very well and prevents eye fatigue. At dusk in the forest, the lens may be a little too dark depending on the light conditions.

First impression
The sleeveless bike shirt is reduced to the minimum. The shoulder area is generously cut out to enable optimum heat management on hot days. This is further supported by the drirelease fabric - a blend of 85% polyester and 15% cotton. It also has moisture-wicking fibers woven into the fabric. The "Pure Flowz Shirt" has silicone prints on the back hem for good support. A small zipped pocket on the side rounds off the product.

In use
The tank top fits loosely on the body and allows heat to escape easily. On the skin, the outer material feels similar to merino wool, which may bother sensitive women. Depending on the backpack straps, they can rest uncomfortably on the bare shoulders, but in combination with a hip bag, the top fits perfectly.

Conclusion
Overheating is hardly possible with the "Zimtstern Tank Shirt", the generous cut and the breathable material make the bodysuit a summer hit. Unfortunately, the fabric tends to attract lint when washed, but this can be easily removed with a lint roller.

TSG Waft Jersey S/S

First impression
The short-sleeved shirt from TSG is made from a very thin polyester fabric (100 gr/m2). In size S, it weighs just 91 grams.

In use
It is advisable to wear a breathable first-layer shirt under the "Waft Jersey". As with all jerseys, this will otherwise stick to the skin if you sweat a lot. Not as annoying as with heavier fabrics, but in combination with a layer underneath, it only absorbs sweat slightly and is very comfortable to wear on days with temperatures above 25 degrees.

Conclusion
The TSG jersey is the first choice on hot summer days thanks to the very light and highly breathable material.

Camelbak Podium V.I. 0.5 lt. bottle

First impression
The Podium is a double-walled drinking bottle made of stainless steel or titanium. It is available in two sizes (530 and 650 milliliters) and in numerous colors. The smaller bottle made of unpainted stainless steel was tested; it weighs 304 grams. Thanks to Podium's high-flow system, plenty of water flows through the mouthpiece. It is lifted like a classic bidon for drinking and does not have to/can't be squeezed. A screw cap protects the bottle from accidental leakage. When the sticker is removed from the bottle, residue remains that cannot be removed even with harsh solvents.

In use
The bottle fits into standard bottle holders, but the smooth steel surface found little grip on two out of seven holders tested. If you use the Fidlock system, you can use their Uni-Connector adapter, which holds firmly to the Podium. The thermal bottle is supposed to keep drinks cool for up to 14 hours, but it was empty after 3 hours at the latest. The Podium is ideal as a second bottle to carry in your rucksack. When the main bottle is empty, cool water is available for refueling. It has also proved its worth for refreshing after a bike tour. Even several hours in a hot car could not heat up the drink.

Conclusion
The Podium bottle is versatile and suitable for all kinds of leisure activities. We particularly like the high water flow rate, which quenches thirst quickly, and the long cooling time.
