"Unfortunately, the mountain bike marathon scene is basically weakening and the number of participants has reached too low a level to continue the Engadin Bike Giro," the event website quotes the managing director of the organizing Sauser Event GmbH. The eighth edition is the last - for the time being.

In figures: a good 200 participants are not enough to run a multi-day marathon stage race economically. The coronavirus boom has also left the Engadin Bike Giro without any positive consequences. The three municipalities of Celerina, St. Moritz and Silvaplana have therefore decided together with Sauser Event not to hold the race in 2024, according to the organizer.The latter promises to develop a new concept for a "possible revival" in 2025. The Engadin Bike Giro must therefore be reanimated if it is to be held again.
