Ten years after its premiere in the Welsh hills, the toughest downhill race, the Red Bull Hardline, is expanding to the other side of the globe. On February 24, 2024, thousands of bike fans are expected at the Maydena Bike Park in Tasmania, where the world's best mountain bikers will compete on perhaps the toughest downhill course

The Red Bull Hardline is considered the toughest downhill mountain bike race in the world and demands everything from the best downhill riders. For the participants in Tasmania, this race will be a new course with new challenges.

The invitation-only event will feature 26 riders competing in both Australia and the UK, as well as 12 wildcard riders competing in Australia only.

Many of the wildcard riders are from Australia and New Zealand, including Tassie native Dan Booker, Canberra's Harriet Burbidge-Smith and Remy Morton.

Multiple Crankworx event winner Harriet Burbidge-Smith is delighted to have been selected as a wildcard rider: "Red Bull Hardline is the premier event for MTB riders. I'm really excited that Australia will be hosting this event in 2024, and in a place like Tasmania. It will undoubtedly have its challenges, but that's what we riders train and work so hard for."

Nic Street, Minister for Stadia and Events in Tasmania, said: "Red Bull Hardline is known around the world as the ultimate test in downhill mountain biking. Tasmania has long been a popular destination for mountain bikers because of its unique environment and hospitality, and now the best in the world are coming to prove themselves in Maydena. I'm confident this will be the best Red Bull Hardline yet."
