Thömus turns twenty years old

Thömus Veloshop is celebrating a milestone birthday these days: twenty years ago, Thomas Binggeli started his bike store on his parents' farm in Oberried. Two eventful decades later, "Thömus Veloshop" is one of the largest and most successful bike stores in Switzerland and an important bike manufacturer in the Swiss bicycle industry.

Thömus is celebrating its big anniversary at its traditional spring expo. From March 24 to 27, the Thömus site in Oberriet will be transformed into a respectable bike festival. A shuttle bus will take visitors to Oberried from Köniz, Niederscherli and Thörishaus. The organizers are expecting up to 12,000 visitors, compared to 10,000 last year. This makes the Thömus Bike Expo one of the biggest bike events in Switzerland. And also one of the highest-selling: according to Thömus, 357 bikes were sold at the Bike-Expo 2010 over the three days of the event, generating sales of 1.2 million Swiss francs. This year it is likely to be even more.
