Truvativ expands the Descendant line with lightweight parts for rough terrain

Sram's component brand Truvativ is getting new blood. An existing Descendant crank is being turned into a new line of parts that includes cranks, handlebars, stems and seat posts for downhill and enduro use. Once again, a lot of aluminum is involved.

Under the name "Descendant" there was previously a downhill crank. With the input of some of the world's best downhill and enduro riders, Truvativ is now turning it into an entire component line. There are three versions of the crank. Two for enduro use, each in aluminum at 674 grams and carbon at 587 grams. The latter is therefore light enough for cross-country use, but robust enough to take a beating - although it is only available in a length of 175 millimetres.
Another new feature is the downhill crank, which at 725 grams is almost 100 grams lighter than the previous model. This is available in 165 and 170 millimeter lengths.

Downhill, curved handlebars are not always the only option. For the first time, Truvativ is introducing flat enduro-specific handlebars to achieve a more aggressive position on the bike. The handlebars are available in an aluminum version with a width of 760 millimetres and in carbon with a width of 750 millimetres. Both handlebars come with a 31.8 millimeter clamp diameter and a seven-degree bend to the rear.

Those who prefer the traditional riser bar will also have the choice of new handlebars. Like the flat bars, the curved handlebars come in aluminum and carbon versions, each with a rise of 20 millimeters and a five-degree crank upwards. The other dimensions correspond to the flat handlebars.

For the downhill faction, there is a new aluminum handlebar. A full 800 millimetres of width are available for the rider to maneuver their bike over the rough downhill slopes. The handlebars are equipped with five degrees of upsweep, nine degrees of backsweep and 25 millimetres of rise. As with the others, Truvativ also relies on a clamp diameter of 31.8 millimetres for the downhill handlebars.The Descendant stem made from 3D-forged 7075 aluminum matches the new Descendant handlebars. This is available in lengths of 40, 50 and 60 millimetres.

Truvativ also offers seat posts from the Descendant series especially for downhill sports. The aluminum post is characterized above all by a large adjustment range of the clamping head. It is available in lengths of 350 and 400 millimetres and in diameters of 30.9 and 31.6 millimetres.
