The regions around Visp, Brig and Naters in the Upper Valais are particularly affected: among other things, the connections from Mund and Birgisch to Gamsen and above the railroad line in the direction of the Naters industrial zone are closed due to logging work and helicopter operations. In the municipality of Brig, 1,300 of around 2,000 trees have already been reported as damaged.

The situation in Goms is currently less serious: most of the damage has been avoided there because the trees are not yet in leaf.

In the Lower Valais, the paths and trails are badly damaged, especially in the Val d'Hérens and Val d'Anniviers.

Caution is advised in the Upper and Lower Valais: Many closures are not yet recorded on platforms such as Switzerland Mobil or Swisstopo. If you come across blocked paths or warning signs along the way, you should turn back and not take any risks. Local authorities and forestry companies are working flat out to clear the trails - but it will still take some time before they are safe to ride on. An appeal to all bikers: If you are currently planning a bike tour in Valais, you should obtain good information in advance in the respective region, for example from the tourist office or local bike stores, so that your bike trip does not end in disappointment.
