Von Niederhäusern pumps to the world championship title again
The Velosolutions UCI Pump Track World Championships at AREA47 in Austria culminated in an intense showdown this evening. Christa von Niederhäusern (SUI) secured her third world title in the elite women's category in outstanding form. Alec Bob (USA) took victory in the Elite Men's category against newcomer Mattia Costerman (ITA), further cementing his legacy on the Pump Track circuit after finishing second on the podium in Santiago, Chile last year.
On her final lap, Christa put in her fastest run of the day, completing it in a lightning-fast 13.445 seconds. Sabina Košárková (CZE) secured second place on the podium, while Alina Beck (GER) took third place.
Alec Bob fought hard for the gold medal tonight, with just half a second separating the top 16 riders throughout the day, intensifying the competition for qualification in the knockout rounds. Mattia Costerman (ITA) secured second place on the podium, while 2021 World Champion Eddy Clerte (FRA) made an impressive comeback after his serious accident in Chile in 2022 to win the bronze medal.
