Aesch baut das flachste Trailcenter der Schweiz
Aesch is turning a football pitch into a trail center. For a few days now, excavators have been piling up earth to form hills on an area of 8000 square meters. Five trails will soon ride down and around them. Construction and operation is being managed by trailnet Nordwestschweiz. Their description states that the five trails at the facility will appeal to bikers aged 2 to 75, from beginners to experts.
The trails are:
- a running bike loop (green, very easy)
- one main trail (blue, easy)
- a balance zone (red, medium difficulty)
- Stone and step trails (black, difficult)
- a hairpin bend trail (purple, very difficult)
Surprisingly, a height difference of 2.5 to 3 meters is sufficient for the trails. In terms of their characteristics, the trails are comparable to those of the Tailcenter in Thusis, explains Kevin as a representative of trailnet Northwestern Switzerland, "The Rockgarden there in particular is a great example that shows how quite difficult sections can be realized without a difference in altitude."
The construction time is also extremely impressive: the Trailcenter Aesch is due to go into operation this fall, after a construction period of around three months. The images from the construction site webcam show the progress and, according to Kevin Suhr, will soon reveal what the mini bike park site will look like.
The trail center is also a benefit for nature, as it is designed to provide a habitat for various plant and animal species, thus significantly increasing biodiversity compared to previous use. Mountain bikers can use the trail center free of charge. However, such a facility cannot be built for free, of course. Most of the funding is provided by the Baselland Sports Office, while Trailnet is looking for further sponsors.
