Stöckli 29er: Auf den Prototypen folgt das Serienbike
The appearance of the "Beryll Carbon RS 29" has changed once again compared to the prototype. Straighter and slimmer tubes are now used, which provide even more stiffness and make the Beryll look more delicate. Partially internally routed gear cables ensure a tidy appearance.
In terms of weight and handling, however, the prototype has been used as a guide. The frame weighs 960 grams, which makes complete bikes around 8.7 kilograms possible. In series production, the frame should be even lighter. Every possible gram has been optimized. For example, the headset bearing is inserted directly into the carbon without a bearing shell. Despite the low weight, the frame is said to be extremely durable. One example of this is the Keflar protection against stone chips inserted into the down tube.
Maneuverable and comfortable
The short chainstays (438 millimetres) ensure the necessary manoeuvrability and the moderate 70 degree steering angle provides good rolling characteristics and even more cornering stability. To ensure that comfort is not neglected despite the high lateral stiffness, the seat and chain stays are vertically flexible and a 27.2 millimeter thin, equally flexible seat post has been designed. Together with the tapered head tube, which houses a 100-millimetre Fox fork and the direct post mount brake caliper attachment, the bike is at the cutting edge of technology.
