According to the motto "many ales make good trails", the "Bikepark Thunersee" association launched the Trail Ale in cooperation with Thun Bier. Jerôme Hunziker, who works for both Flying Metal and Bikepark Thunersee, raves about the amber-colored Golden Ale: "Personally, I think the beer from the bottle is great. Not too heavy but still not a lager. Just a trail ale. With a bit of dirt on your face after biking and a view of the beautiful Lake Thun, the Trail Ale is a real treat." Obviously, the Trail beer meets the taste of the Bernese Oberläder, the first 2000 bottles were gone in just a few weeks. Now they are brewing more. And the Trail Ale is conquering pubs and stores in the region, and the bottles with the bear-shaped label will soon be available from Landi Steffisburg, Mühlistübli Steffisburg, van der Heijden Spirituosen Thun, Thunbier Rampenverkauf as well as their partner bike stores Acefactory, Free-Mountain Shop, Mountain Roots GmbH and Hot-Trail Bike Park Wiriehorn.
If you want to "hop on" in a restaurant after the bike tour and make a contribution, you will find the El Camino Café Bar, Pier 17, Pura Vida Quiosco and in the Chartreuse, Osteria da Pasquale served.
Hunziker puts this into perspective: "With this product, we simply want to show how bikers can increase added value in the region. What could be better than a beer brewed by the local Thun AG brewery?" The trails of the Bikepark Thunersee are a long-term project, the first one is still closed due to coronavirus. But at least with the trail ale, there's biking fun to drink and for a good cause too.
