A bike less ordinary: Pole Vikkelä

Finnish bike manufacturer Pole Bicycles has come up trumps in several ways with the new Vikkelä: Blessed with 190 millimetres of suspension travel, the bullet looks almost identical to its motorized counterpart. And there are bodies with a total weight of just 14 kilos. Another special feature is the manufacturing technology: the frame is made from milled aluminum half-shells that are bonded together.

Pole Bicycles has presented the Voima e-mountain bike: Lots of suspension travel, a frame elaborately manufactured by milling aluminum blocks with the so-called Sensei rear triangle and a geometry that lives up to the motto long, slack and low. Now comes the second, non-motorized prank, which looks surprisingly similar to the e-mountainbike: The Vikkelä (which translates as agile) pays homage to the somewhat forgotten freerider tradition. Despite 190 millimetres of travel, the bike should still be - nomen est omen - agile to ride and, thanks to its relatively moderate weight of 14 to 17 kilos, still be suitable for climbing.

Pole CEO Leo Kokkonen states that the Vikkelä combines downhill geometry with a steep seat angle and the riding characteristics of a trail bike. This creation, which almost appears to be the square of the circle, is topped off by a custom-made concept. In addition to four different frame sizes and colors, different suspension elements, gears, brakes and numerous other attachments can be freely configured.
