Current set tubeless setups with puncture protection milk already offer quite decent puncture protection. However, if larger objects drill into the tire, even the best sealant is powerless and the tire goes flat. This is where a patch known as a "tire sausage" comes to the rescue, which closes the hole and bonds with the tire; Maxalami patches are a household name here.

Now tubeless pioneer Stans is also tackling the issue of tire patches - and doing so thoroughly and somewhat differently than the competition. The so-called darts from Stan's are shaped more flat and equipped with small barbs so that they bond well with the tire. It is therefore not necessary to cut off the inserted patch that is still protruding outwards. Stan cites the fact that the patches bond perfectly with the company's own puncture protection milk as a particular advantage, creating an absolutely airtight system. Stan's Darts come with an applicator that contains two patches and should make it easy to push the puncture repairer into the tire.
