The new company has been entered in the Swiss commercial register as GOATtrails since the beginning of August. Schurter is one of the three co-owners, alongside Marc Grünenfelder, CEO of the Zindel Group - one of the most important construction companies in Graubünden - and Adrian Riedi, Managing Director of Zindel subsidiary Crestageo. With the company, they want to "build cool trails for biking and hiking", as he told the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

Schurter's professional future has already cast its first shadows: He has been a board member of the Lenzerheide tourism organization since September 2024.

For the time being, however, don't expect to see Schurter sitting in an excavator or swinging an ice axe in the terrain. In the 2026 season, the focus will be on big gravel races. He wants to ride the Traka in Spain, as he told the NZZ. He also has his sights set on gravel races in Iceland and British Columbia. Whether he will ride the Cape Epic together with Filippo Colombo is still open and depends on whether he is in top form in March.
