Specialized has created a very special jersey with the Trail-MTB jersey, Specialized has created a very special shirt. Its Mini-R fabric is a high-performance fabric whose yarn is produced using a special process. It reflects the sun's rays and should not only keep the wearer cooler for longer, but also provide better protection against harmful UV rays thanks to its high UPF value (UV 50+ ). The jersey has a very elaborate cut that is tailored to the female anatomy. The jersey is available in five colors and five sizes and in a very similar version for men (two colors, six sizes).

In use
The trail shirt hugs the body comfortably, it is nice and soft and fits well. Not too wide, not too tight and with plenty of freedom of movement thanks to the clever pattern.

Conclusion
The look of the long-sleeved jersey doesn't give away the fact that it's a bike shirt. That's a good thing, as it makes it ideal for other sports, everyday wear or snuggling up in front of the fire on cold days.

First impression
Scott's Contessa Signature collection was developed by women for women who attach great importance to the look and performance of their equipment. You can see this in the long trail pants. The lightweight trousers were actually developed for racing. Despite the rather narrow cut, there is room for knee protectors underneath. The thin material is very stretchy and reinforced in exposed areas with a 4-way stretch Cordura textile. The elasticated waistband has a hook fastener for a secure fit. There are two classic side pockets and laser-cut ventilation holes on the inside of the thighs. The trail trousers are only available in black and in five sizes. Sorry guys, there is no men's version of these.

In use
The Contessa trousers are also ideal in the off-season thanks to the lightweight fabric. Thanks to the close-fitting cut, nothing flutters around when riding fast. However, only light protectors fit underneath. Thanks to the 4-way stretch material, they do so without creating an annoying pull on the fabric. This also ensures the necessary freedom of movement. We particularly liked the hook fastener on the waistband. It is hardly noticeable and is very handy.

Conclusion
The Scott trousers in plain black score points with many small details. The only catch: if you have a large cell phone such as a Samsung S23 Ultra, it will be cramped in your trouser pocket. This then gets in the way when pedaling, smaller phones can be carried easily.

Met Terranova

First impression
The Mips helmet has 17 ventilation openings. Bike goggles can be placed in two of the front ones. Depending on the shape of the temples, they may protrude slightly from the head or leave unpleasant pressure points. Models with strongly curved temples do not even fit. A plastic strap that runs around the head and can be adjusted with a dial ensures optimum hold. The strap can be adjusted vertically in four stages at the back of the neck. Thanks to good padding, the head does not rest against hard elements. The Vizor is infinitely adjustable. At 368 grams, the weight is quite reasonable. The Terranova is available in ten colors and three sizes.

In use
Adjusting the side straps before the first ride takes some time. Moving the straps so that they fit well around the ear is awkward. However, they never became misaligned during the five months of testing. The chin strap, on the other hand, is very easy to adjust. The fit of a helmet is always a matter of the shape of the head, but here nothing pinched and the fit was always perfect. The Met helmet shines with very good ventilation. On the descent, the wind ideally dissipates the heat through the internal channels. On sweaty uphills, the heat escapes upwards through the many openings.

Conclusion
The Terranova from Met scores top marks for ventilation. It is visually appealing thanks to its subtle beige shade (off-white bronze matt), which goes well with almost any outfit. The soft graphic accents at the rear give it that certain something. However, it does have one weak point: the screws of the Vizor come loose regularly, applying a screw lock fixes this problem.

Alpina Sonic HR CV

First impression
The Sonic is a classic half-frame frame. The rubberized temple tips glide easily over the hair and ensure a good fit. The bendable nose pads are easy to adjust and hold well on the nose. The medium-sized lens is photochromatic and adapts to the ambient light. They have an anti-tarnish coating on the inside and a moisture-repellent nanostructure on the outside. The Alpina goggles weigh 28 grams and are available in two colors.

In use
In the lightest tint, the Sonic lens is slightly darker than some other self-tinting lenses. It is therefore more suitable for fine weather. It provides optimum protection in bright light at the darkest level. The coloring of the Quattro Varioflex lens is neutral and the contrasts are slightly enhanced without being distracting.

Conclusion
The Sonic sits comfortably on the face and leaves no pressure marks even after long days on the bike. The high-quality lens provides excellent protection from the sun's rays and prevents the wind from reaching the eyes. First impression
The Trail Storm vest is lined with Polartec Alpha material and has cut-outs on the side. This provides greater freedom of movement and allows accumulated body heat to escape. The cut is close to the body and the collar is pulled up to protect against the wind. There is a small zippered pocket on the right-hand side of the back that can hold a cell phone or wallet. The back section is cut long and thus provides protection even when the rider is sitting in a stretched position. The vest is available in four colors and in five sizes from S to XXL and, of course, also for women from XS to XL.

In use
The Iso vest from Scott fits comfortably on the body and provides optimum protection on cool days - when a jacket is too warm. The absorbent Alpha insulation efficiently draws moisture away from the layer underneath. This makes it the ideal candidate for climbs, as you suffer less from heat build-up than with a jacket. Where a classic thin gilet often offers too little protection on the descent, the "Trail Storm" fits perfectly. It also works well after the tour to prevent chilling.

Conclusion
The "Trail Storm Insuloft AL" vest from Scott not only offers top protection from the cold and wind, it also scores points with its sleek look. Thanks to the different materials, it is not simply plain, but subtly different.
