First impression
The colourful accents give the Ambush that "certain something". The workmanship looks extremely high quality. It is equipped with a Mips-SL system and has an innovative goggle holder. The somewhat concealed rubber straps ensure that the eye protectors are held securely and wobble-free. Insertion is effortless, even for sunglasses with strongly curved temples. Adjusting the side straps is less easy. However, after the initial adjustment, the position of the divider can no longer be adjusted. The retention system is height-adjustable, fits snugly and is very easy to operate via a wheel concealed in the helmet shell. The helmet is available in three sizes and six colors. It has a high 5-star rating from the Virginia Tech test laboratory.  

In use
The non-adjustable and high-positioned Vizor provides hardly any sun protection. According to Specialized, it is not intended for this purpose, but to channel the airflow directly into the air ducts. This works, the ventilation is excellent. Only on long climbs does the heat build up under the center of the head, where there is no opening. The Ambush offers a high level of comfort and is barely noticeable on the head.

Conclusion
The Specialized stands out visually, sits inconspicuously on the head and scores with a clever ventilation system that skilfully directs the airflow. Glasses are easily parked and the thick padding absorbs sweat.

Sweet Protection Memento RIG glasses

First impression
The Memento follows the trend of oversized lenses, but is otherwise very discreet in design. Only a small silver icon on the temples and a barely noticeable engraving on the lens indicate the manufacturer. When worn on the head, the frame appears black. Only in strong backlighting can you see that the frame is actually slightly transparent and grained in camo style. The violet-tinted lens is designed for overcast skies. It is 1.8 millimetres thick and is said to have a high impact resistance. It is also water and oil repellent. The RIG lens technology developed by Sweet Protection enhances contrast and is designed to reduce eye fatigue. The Memento is available in numerous color and lens options.

In use
As with many other goggles with large lenses, the field of vision is excellent, but body heat builds up underneath when climbing. This means you sweat a lot more than with smaller goggles. Otherwise, they sit comfortably on the head. The wind protection is generally good, but varies depending on the angle of the head. With a tilted posture and high driving speed, there can be minimal draughts to the side of the eyes. The lens has a slight violet tint, which changes the colors a little, but is not distracting. It pleasantly enhances contrasts and ensures sharp vision. The S1 category lens is designed for cloudy conditions and this is where the Memento scores highly. In strong backlighting, the tint reaches its limits and impairs vision. Cell phone screens are easy to read and the quartz lens does not cause any color distortions or other irritations. Unfortunately, the water and oil-repellent coating on the inside quickly attracts dust.

Conclusion
The Memento shows its best side in cloudy conditions. The design manages the balancing act between a sleek look and a large lens with ease.

Shokz Open Run Pro 2 headphones

First impression
The headphones are packaged in a robust case that also holds the USB-C charging cable. The bone-sound headphones keep the ears clear and transmit sounds as sound waves via the bones of the skull. The Shokz are barely noticeable and do not get in the way of helmets or sports glasses. The rechargeable battery is designed for a runtime of twelve hours, even in the rain thanks to the waterproof construction. The workmanship is very high quality.

In use
For many people, biking with music in their ears is a no-go. With the Shokz, the music is "in your head" and not in your ears. The transmission via the bone does not detract from the sound quality. On the contrary, thanks to this technology, ambient noise is perceived relatively well. This provides a great deal of safety, especially when approaching the trail through the city. Another plus: the Bluetooth headphones also function as a hands-free system for phone calls. In strong winds or at high speeds, the sound transmission is not optimal.

Conclusion
Even though the "Shokz Open Run Pro 2" were actually developed for runners, they make a good trap on the bike. The sound quality is top, as is the wearing comfort. However, it takes a little practice to find the control buttons straight away, especially when wearing gloves.

Grip Grab Aquashield waterproof cycling cap

First impression
The classic road bike look under cap is made from a waterproof textile. It has a 10,000 water column rating and an impressive 40,000 breathability rating. The elasticated rear ensures a good, pressure-free fit. A 22 millimeter high, soft sweatband is placed inside. The roof can be folded up when worn to reveal an all-round reflective element. The cap is available in two sizes

In use
The cycling cap is barely noticeable on the head and does not get in the way of sports glasses. The thin sweatband doesn't work miracles, but it keeps most of the sweat from running into the eyes. Even in prolonged rain, the Aquashield stays tight.

Conclusion
The material is really great, stays tight and prevents overheating on long rides thanks to its good breathability. If you don't mind the roadie look, this is a great protective cap for wet days.

First impression
The bottle has a roll-on cap, as you would expect from deodorants. The peppermint scent is pleasant and not overpowering, the aroma is refreshing.

In use
If you're in the mood to shoot but don't have a clear head, simply roll the essential oils onto your forehead and temples. After a few minutes of application, the roll-on relieves mild headaches and the refreshing mint aroma lets the heavy thoughts fall away.

Conclusion
The "Farfalla Head Clear" is not a medicine for migraines or severe headaches, but as the product name suggests, it clears a "cloudy" head and refreshes you to such an extent that nothing stands in the way of a fast-paced bike ride.
