On Saturday, June 20, a Zurich biking dream will come true: the Züritrails Jumppark in the Allmend will open its doors. The Züritrails association will inaugurate the training ground near Sihlcity with an international contest. Professional bikers Amir Kabbani, Matt Jones and Xavier Pasamonte are at the start line to show off their skills. The park will be officially opened to the public by Filippo Leutenegger, Zurich City Councillor and Head of the Civil Engineering and Waste Management Department.

The Züritrails association's site at the Sihlcity shopping center complements Zurich's bike offering. Right next to the largest bike park in Europe, the facility is being expanded to include a dirt jump park with big jumps for daredevil bikers. The Jumppark is the result of thousands of hours of voluntary work and constructive collaboration between the city of Zurich and the Züritrails association. "We have found Züritrails to be an extremely committed partner in our collaboration. What the association has created through its hard work shines far beyond the city and even beyond Switzerland," says Filippo Leutenegger, Head of the Civil Engineering and Waste Management Department.

With the Jumppark, the Züritrails association is creating a training facility for advanced riders. "The terrain offers ideal training opportunities for specialists. We already have 14-year-olds doing their tricks on the big jumps," says Frank Wadenpohl, President of Züritrails, and raves about how quickly the youngsters make progress on the existing infrastructure. Gerold Lauber, Head of the Department of Education and Sport, agrees with Wadenpohl: "The collaboration between the Department of Education and Sport and Züritrails is a success story. The Jumppark is an attractive addition for advanced riders, while beginners will also find a challenge in the bike park right next door." For liability reasons, the area is only accessible to club members. They also have to contribute to the maintenance of the park.

The park will open on Saturday, June 20 from 11:00 a.m. with a competition that is part of the FMB World Tour, the world tour of freestyle mountain bikers. Some of the best freestyle mountain bikers in the world will be showing off their tricks. Among them are bike pros such as Amir Kabbani, Xavier Pasamonte and Matt Jones. Filippo Leutenegger, Head of the Civil Engineering and Waste Disposal Department, Urs Schmidig, Director of the Sports Office and Frank Wadenpohl, President of the Züritrails association, are expected as guest speakers at the opening ceremony at 13:00.

The final of the competition takes place at 18:00. Immediately afterwards, the trick jump will be about who can show the craziest jump. Course builder Ramon Hunziker from the "Flying Metal Crew" expects a lot from the riders: "The landing of the practice jump is made of soft wood chips and is therefore ideal for trying something new!".

In addition to a top-class show, spectators can also get active themselves. Bikes, helmets and schooners can be hired on site to take part in the Züritrails workshop on the neighboring pump track.

Together with the Züritrails association and the riders, you can celebrate to hip-hop beats at partner club Exil after the opening ceremony on Saturday evening from 23:00. There will also be a free warm-up party with riders and crew at the Indoor Bike Park Pfäffikon on the evening before the opening ceremony.
