Der Stromer verlässt die BMC Gruppe
Thomas Binggeli, company founder and co-owner of Stromer, is bringing investors on board for the further development of the e-bike for a commitment in the double-digit million range. In addition to existing investors Andy Rihs, Ernst Thomke and Thomas Binggeli, the shareholders now include Ruedi Noser's Noser Group (Noser Management AG), Stefan Schwab from the watch industry and major figures from the financial sector. The future Board of Directors will include Binggeli, Noser and Schwab.
BMC focuses on sports bikes - and has its own e-mountain bike at the ready
The new structure separates myStromer AG from its previous parent company BMC, into which it was integrated in 2011. From BMC owner Andy Rihs' point of view, this is a logical step. "After the challenging phase of market development, Stromer is still a technological pioneer, now internationally established and therefore definitely ready for independence," says Rihs, who will remain on board with Stromer as a private investor. "At BMC, we will concentrate fully on our core competencies - the development and distribution of high-quality sports bikes. The success of our world-class teams on the road and in the mountain bike sector helps us to position ourselves as a Swiss high-end brand."
BMC presented an e-mountain bike prototype at Eurobike 2016 that caused a sensation. Unlike the Stromer bikes, this bike is not equipped with a rear-wheel motor. Instead, it also uses a mid-mounted motor - as is widely available on the market today.
