According to the police report, the man was riding in a group of three and had a slight lead. When his two companions found his water bottle and bike computer, they alerted the emergency services. After a helicopter search, they found the man around 170 meters below the scene of the accident. They were only able to determine that the mountain biker was dead. The deceased was a 67-year-old man from Zurich who lived in the canton of St. Gallen, the Valais cantonal police announced today (Monday). The exact circumstances of the accident are being investigated.
