Sion versieht Suonen-Trails mit Bike-Verbot
For many hikers in Valais, the case is clear: there is no room for other trail users on the narrow Suonen trails that ride along the spectacular irrigation channels. The bike ban that has now been imposed should also be seen against this background. The mountain bikers do not want to simply accept this and have launched an online petition to emphasize their concerns. There are not enough arguments for a ban; peaceful coexistence is also possible on Suonen trails, and these routes are often an important, if not the only, connection to avoid having to use roads. Mountain bikers complain that they should be excluded from these trails on the basis of a few unfounded accusations. The inappropriate behavior of some mountain bikers cannot lead to clannishness.
The bike bans imposed concern the Bisses de Claveau, Montorge and Lentine, which are located on the southern slopes just above the town of Sion. The Bisse de Claveau in particular is likely to be familiar to many mountain bikers, as it is the final section of the now well-known Plaine Morte descent.
Mountain bikers should sign the online petition calling for this bike ban to be lifted. It is important that mountain bikers are heard on such issues and that no decisions are made over their heads - as has been the case so far.
