There is a chance that a bike manufacturer will win the SwissAward in the business category this year. Although Stöckli is nominated for its success story with the Stöckli skis, it is now also one of the most important Swiss mountain bike manufacturers. Binggeli's nomination, on the other hand, is clearly due to his activities in the two-wheeler sector. With Dominique Biedermann, however, the two have a tough nut to crack. Biedermann has been nominated as Director of the Ethos Foundation. For over a decade, this foundation has been campaigning for shareholder rights and against excessive executive salaries and dual mandates. Biedermann is therefore likely to have the best chance of being elected by the 100-strong academy, which will choose one of the three nominees.

In the election for Swiss of the Year, it is up to the television audience to choose which of the nominees they want to vote for. However, the best maps in this election are usually held by popular figures from sport or showbiz. Nevertheless, the fact that Stöckli and Binggeli are among the 15 outstanding personalities nominated for an award on Switzerland's biggest TV show can certainly be interpreted as a good sign for Swiss cycling.

The vote will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the live show on Swiss television SRF via telephone voting.
