Trek's Domane road bike focuses entirely on new solutions for the problem areas of rider fatigue, traction on the rear wheel and efficiency on long distances over rough asphalt or gravel and cobblestone passages. With the so-called Isospeed technology, the seat tube and seat tower are decoupled from the top tube.

This design is intended to isolate the rider from energy-robbing vibrations from the road and reduce rider fatigue. On closer inspection, this IsoSpeed technology, or rather the coupling between the top tube, rear triangle and seat tube, is reminiscent of a bearing-mounted joint with a pivot axle, similar to the rear triangles of suspension mountain bikes.

More braking power
Trek is now launching the option for disc brakes on the Domane 4.0 and 6.9 models. The road discs from Shimano are used.

The US bike manufacturer is particularly innovative when it comes to the installation standard for wheels with brake discs. As is standard on mountain bikes, 15 millimeter thru-axles are used on the front wheel and 142x12 millimeter thru-axles on the rear wheel. As the market for road bike wheels with these axle dimensions for discs is still very small, Trek makes it easy for owners: the dropouts can be modified and then also accept wheels with conventional quick-releases.
