A dropper post must be able to do one thing above all else: lower quickly and raise reliably. Intend is taking an unconventional approach with its new Elevator. The 190-millimeter travel features a special air suspension system that becomes significantly more progressive toward the end of the travel.

This is made possible by what’s known as Safe Space Technology. A separate air chamber located in the lower section of the seatpost creates additional progression during compression. This is designed to prevent the seatpost from bottoming out harshly when fully compressed.

Intend also takes a unique approach to the design: The Elevator features dual internal guides and oil lubrication. The sealed design is also intended to prevent dirt and water from inside the frame from entering the seatpost.

The Elevator offers 190 millimeters of travel with a diameter of 31.6 millimeters. The travel can be reduced in 10-millimeter increments down to 100 millimeters. Weighing about 564 grams without the remote, however, it is not among the lightest dropper posts.

An interesting feature for individualists: Intend develops and assembles the Elevator in Freiburg and tunes the air spring to the rider’s weight upon order. The seatpost is designed for riders weighing between 50 and 110 kilograms.
