Over 2,500 square meters, the Wheel Park in Sarnen offers various mountain bike trails, obstacles and kickers as well as an airbag. A heated lounge with a view of the trails and jumps, an outdoor bar in summer and a store with bike equipment, bike rental and merchandising also ensure an eventful stay. The hall is open all year round and thus offers a complementary range of outdoor mountain biking activities. Various events by and for the industry, as well as contests and courses, guarantee a varied program throughout the year.

Mountain biking will prevail indoors

Owner and managing director Robin Gilli has long fancied turning the empty hall in the industrial area of Sarnen into a mountain bike Eldorado. In addition to the new fun and leisure offer in Obwalden, the MTB park should also fulfill a preventative function: "Switzerland is in mountain bike fever! This leads to bottlenecks on the outdoor trails and more accidents because beginners overestimate themselves. What's more, mountain biking is a fair-weather sport that can practically only be practiced in summer in rainy Switzerland. Our Wheel Park creates an offer that can be used all year round and especially in bad weather."

Work is currently in full swing and can be followed on Instagram. Various regional companies are involved in the construction of the park. These include Burch und Partner Architekten from Sarnen, who were involved in the planning. The interior design firm Deco Factory from Stansstad, which is designing the entire interior, and the Sarnen-based communications agency microbee, which is responsible for marketing and communications. The companies Trailworks and Vertical Technik AG are responsible for the optimal construction and alignment of the trails, obstacles and jumps.

The Wheel Park is expected to open in February 2022.
