The Swiss mountain bike series "Bike Revolution" kicked off the season in Engelberg on the weekend of May 2 to 4. Ramona Forchini beats local hero Alessandra Keller on her home trails and celebrates a start-finish victory. Seraina Leugger comes third. Marcel Guerrini wins the men's race ahead of his two teammates Timon Rüegg and Luca Schätti.

Alessandra Keller from Central Switzerland gave the competition at the ÖKK Bike Revolution in Engelberg no chance and won ahead of Seraina Leugger and Linda Indergand. Victory in the men's race also remained in Central Switzerland. Marcel Guerrini, who lives in Ufhusen, celebrated a start-to-finish victory in the muddy conditions ahead of Nino Schurter and his team colleague Timon Rüegg.

The canton of Obwalden is working on a mountain bike concept. To ensure that this is not written without the local bikers, they have now joined forces to form Mountainbike Obwalden.

The tour from Melchsee-Frutt to Hasliberg and on to Giswil is one of the best you can ride on a mountain bike and is said to include the longest single trail in Switzerland. In the Ride Check, Sandro Schmid is soon blown away by the panorama and he is also "highly stoked by the trails."

There is a single trail near Lucerne on the left-hand side of which bikes are prohibited. On the right (southern) side of the trail, bikes are not a problem. The video shows why this is the case and what the consequences are. Ride editor Stefan Michel met Andy "Mr. Mountainbike Lucerne" Stalder for a bike ride and talked to him about the present and future of biking in the canton of Lucerne.

Ride editor Stefan Michel prefers riding old trails to built bike trails. After a day in Engelberg, he has to partially revise his judgment. Or let's say: adjust it.

The wind is changing in the canton of Nidwalden. A petition with over 1200 signatures called on the cantonal government to create a coherent mountain bike infrastructure. The response from the responsible Director of Agriculture and Environment, Joe Christen, was along the lines of: "We are already working on this."

A new mountain bike hotspot is being created in central Switzerland: the "Wheel Park Sarnen" indoor bike park is set to open in February 2022. After Winterthur and Päffikon, this is the third attempt at a covered, heated and illuminated mountain bike infrastructure.

Three years after the idea was conceived, a trail center with three trails of different difficulty levels and facilities for specific riding technique training is being built in Engelberg. The area near the Bänklialp is perfectly suited for this and, once completed, should offer a wide range of options for individual users as well as bike clubs, schools and families.

Central Switzerland declares itself a "bike cooperative". In recent months, however, a trail project was voted down and a newly paved path was closed to bikers. How much support do the bike cooperatives have in Central Switzerland, Thomy Vetterli?

A fresh mountain bike wind is currently blowing through Central Switzerland. The new volume of Singletrail Books fits the bill perfectly. The book, which has just been published, contains the 25 best singletrail tours between Gotthard and Einsiedeln. As always with the Singletrail Books: richly illustrated and with route maps for each tour.

Engelberg and the neighboring municipality of Wolfenschiessen wanted to jointly upgrade the Engelberg Valley to a bike destination. In the vote last Sunday, however, only the voters of Engelberg said yes, which is why only the routes on their land will be realized. In Wolfenschiessen, it didn't help that Deputy Mayor Thomy Vetterli is the full-time head of the Central Switzerland Mountain Bike Project and one of the driving forces behind the project.

The 18th o-tour Bike Marathon will take place in 2020. The organizers are convinced that many competitors are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to compete in an event. Preparations for this are in full swing and the organizers want to ensure that they and the participants will experience a great event together under the necessary protective measures on Sunday, 13 September 2020.

With the "MTB Zentralschweiz" project, the tourism organizations in Central Switzerland want to give their region a boost in terms of mountain biking. The brains behind it: Thomy Vetterli. He will explain the background to the project at the Ride Congress in September, but has already outlined the direction in an interview with Ride.

Something is happening in Central Switzerland! A workshop with the region's certified mountain bike guides was the start. Now the aim is to further develop the bike destination of Central Switzerland together.
