On June 15 and 16, 2024, international politicians will meet for the Ukraine summit on the Bürgenstock near Lucerne. The mountain is also known for its mountain bike routes - but anyone who ventures up there over the next few days will have to deal with the security services.

Mountain biking becomes a completely insignificant side issue when it comes to war and peace. We will be reminded of this at the weekend when international politicians meet at the Bürgenstock. Things will be more peaceful in the region when the entourage has left again - hopefully in good spirits.

Then the mountain bikers will also return to the trails at this extraordinary landmark in Lake Lucerne. There are two routes in the Ride tour database for the Bürgenstock that are well worth doing. Except for this weekend, when the mountain is cordoned off by the police and the army.

Bürgenstock Mattgrat

The Bürgenstock is a well-known panoramic mountain in Central Switzerland and also a worthwhile destination for mountain bikers. However, good fitness and solid riding technique are required on the single trail along the ridge to the shores of Lake Lucerne.

Bürgenstock Seewligrat

The Bürgenstock is one of Lucerne's tourist magnets. On its southern side on the Seewligrat ridge, however, the crowds are small, but the downhill fun on the single trail is great.
