Oakley brings the superhero look to everyone

Oakley has always led the way in sports eyewear design. With the new Kato, which looks like it came from a superhero, the optics specialist is adding not one, but two on top. Its frameless lens adapts to the shape of the face and, in addition to the superhero look, offers maximum comfort and eliminates any limitations of conventional sports glasses.

Oakley has built a legacy of groundbreaking design, from the Eyeshade in 1984 to the avant-garde Over The Top, which debuted in Sydney in 2000, to the Jawbreaker in 2015. The Oakley Kato is the next step in this journey. It was developed to push the boundaries of form, fit and function and achieve a revolution in eyewear design.

Mask effect for superpowers

The functional design of the Oakley Kato is characterized by an innovative, frameless lens. This has been given an extended wrap around the nose area and an integrated nose bridge to mimic the structural features of a typical frame. The result is a product that adapts to the shape of the face, creating a mask-like effect. Combined with Oakley's unparalleled optics and clear vision, this product removes any limitations and gives all wearers the confidence they need to unleash their inner superpowers and bring out the best in themselves.

New look made from proven materials, tested by pros

During the development phase, a select group of elite athletes, including Patrick Mahomes, Mark Cavendish, Nigel Sylvester and Joseph Newgarden, were provided with a prototype to test the durability and performance that characterize the Oakley Kato. This feedback led to the final product design, which features an adjustable temple system and interchangeable nose pads to provide a customized, seamless fit like never before.

The durable yet lightweight O-Matter™ temple material ensures durability, while the Unobtainium® rubber coating on the temples guarantees all-day comfort and non-slip grip. These outstanding innovations required a complete redevelopment of the manufacturing process - from the molds to the new freeform construction processes to the adhesive for the lenses. Conventional processes were discarded in order to develop this new aesthetic. The Oakley Kato is available with Prizm™ lens technology, which enhances color perception and contrast to see more detail.

The eyewear model is available in Kato and Kato X, with a choice of Prizm™ Road, Sapphire and Black lenses.
