The Rhaetian Railway is a constant companion during the three days of mountain biking. The Albula route, which you pass again and again, is an impressive masterpiece of railroad engineering and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. The railroad curves over many viaducts and meanders harmoniously through the impressive landscape.

Epic Trails

The racers at the Swiss Epic Race, taking place for the first time in Graubünden from August 20 to 24, have no time for the beautiful surroundings; they focus entirely on the epic trails. There are plenty of them, which makes riding the route all the more worthwhile. But the route is long and tough. The three day tours in the package already cover almost 230 kilometers and 6,700 vertical meters. In five days, the entire race would cover 358 kilometers with 11,900 meters of elevation gain. Fortunately, the race is sold out, you could almost say.

But epic doesn't have to be painful, you can enjoy the trails and the landscape with confidence. Herbert has included recommendations and information on mountain railroads, post buses and trains everywhere in his trail book, making it easy to cover over 40% of the altitude difference. There are plenty of options for approaching the route and conserving your energy. This makes the epic trails a pleasure.
