Trail tip for the weekend: from Olten to Basel

It's the quintessential Bluescht ride: the MTB route from Olten to Basel is particularly beautiful in April, when the cherry trees are in full bloom. The upcoming weekend offers the opportunity to do so in the best spring weather. However, the route is also an exceptional experience thanks to the many attractive single trails.

The focus should not be too much on the cherry blossoms in 2021 - after all, the icy April has caused many blossoms to turn brown instead of pink. But the lack of color is compensated for by a double load of trails. The ride from Olten to Basel through the Solothurn Jura and the Basel region is considered to be extremely trail-rich. The tour is also characterized by impressive urban-rural contrasts.

The ride from Olten to Basel is also attractive because the return journey can be made comfortably by Intercity train. This makes it interesting from the Zurich, Bern or Lucerne area, for example, as you can get to Olten by train early in the morning and ride home directly after the tour.

The sporty trail crossing of the Solothurn and Basel Jura contains some of the best-sounding trail names: Belchenflue, Geissflue, Lauchflue or Gempen. All of them are approached on the route, some of them offer a magnificent view of the Alps or the trail fun down almost to the city center of Basel. The tour is a must for every mountain biker in Switzerland. Spring offers an ideal opportunity for this - ideally this weekend.
