While it feels like the majority of the industry is relying on 29-inch bikes, Santa Cruz is staying true to 27.5-inch bikes: the wheel size remains important in the portfolio, so the Heckler with Shimano's EP8 motor will continue to roll on the 650b size. However, the Heckler E-Fully is now available with a new wheel mix, with 27.5-inch wheels at the rear and a 29-inch front wheel to ensure good rollover characteristics. The Californians themselves characterize the Heckler MX as follows: With different wheel sizes at the front and rear and 140 millimeters of the finest VPP suspension travel, it is the perfect companion on trail tours. The 29" front wheel provides a lot of security and high grip, while the 27.5" rear wheel is still as agile as you'd expect from the Heckler. "Thanks to the reduced suspension travel of 140 millimetres, we were able to almost retain the geometry data of the Heckler and still give the Heckler MX its own unique character." The "normal" Heckler has 160 millimetres of travel at the front and the VPP rear triangle offers 150 millimetres of travel.

On the new Shimano motor, Santa Cruz says: "The Shimano EP8 is around 380 grams lighter and, at 85 Nm, significantly more powerful than its predecessor, the lower volume leads to more ground clearance and the newly tuned software gives a very natural feel on the pedals. You pedal, then the EP8 pedals too. You want to catch the jump and pedal hard, the EP8 recognizes it immediately and sprints along"
