Anti-pedal-backlash systems are all the rage right now, along with mass-inertia dampers and 32-inch wheels. There are now several systems on the market; often, they consist of special chainrings that are mounted on the crank. DT Swiss is taking a completely different approach and “hides” its solution between the hub and the freewheel. 

Solutions to minimize pedal kickback are popular and usually mounted on the crank. DT Swiss turns the tables and launches a hub that integrates freedom of movement into the freewheel. The highlight: the system can be retrofitted to newer hubs.

A suspension fork that can be locked out sounds familiar? That's exactly what DT Swiss now offers, and not for mountain bikes but for gravel bikes. But there is much more to the suspension fork that makes it perfect for gravel use.

What colors does a DT Swiss product have? Yes, exactly, black, white or red. Understatement is very important at DT Swiss, and there are hardly any trendy colors on wheels. This is now changing - with the new 350 hub, the wheel expert is making a splash and the anodized colors pink, blue and green are making an appearance.

The wheel specialist is turning carbon production on its head: three new rims are being launched, which should come out of the production mold perfectly and without any post-processing. A process is available for quality control that can X-ray the carbon layers. The result: the lightest DT Swiss rims made from carbon fiber.

DT Swiss hasn't reinvented the wheel, but it has given it a major overhaul: They have developed a new manufacturing process for carbon rims. The 1200 series was recently presented with four new wheelsets. The all-mountain version XMC 1200 has proven itself on the first rides.

While carbon wheels with carbon rims were once a new concept in the mountain bike world, today they can be found almost everywhere. To make the 1200 series family a real highlight among MTB wheels, DT Swiss had to break new ground.

To be precise, DT Swiss has added 36 teeth to the freehub of the new 240 hub. Previously, 54 teeth meshed with the disk freehub. The additional points of engagement result in less pedal kickback on the trail, as well as better power transmission and durability.

DT Swiss caused a sensation in the wheel business in spring 2023: with the Revolite spoke, the Biel-based company launched a mix of bladed and round spokes. The new Complite spoke is based on this concept, but this connection between the hub and rim has a little more material on board for a higher load capacity.

In 2018, DT Swiss launched its first all-mountain & enduro suspension fork: the F 535. Even then, the key feature was the travel-dependent damping. Not everyone liked the feel of the fork, which DT Swiss recognized and redesigned the fork from the ground up.

The suspension department at DT Swiss has reached deep into its engineering bag of tricks - and almost reinvented the suspension element: The damping works depending on the travel, made possible by a so-called bypass in the oil damper. This generates different levels of compression damping over the entire spring travel.

Contemporary enduro bikes are poaching in the park and taming even difficult trails. DT Swiss pays tribute to this trend and presents a new wheelset for rough terrain that can take on both enduro and downhill conditions. Among other things, it features tried-and-tested components.

A spoke, is a spoke, is a spoke.... you might think. Because DT Swiss proves that the connection between hub and rim still has room for improvement in terms of further development. The latest product from Biel is a mix of a thin round spoke and an aero spoke. This is called Revolite, and on closer inspection also brings a new look to the wheel.

The DT Swiss R 232 One and R 535 shocks have been upgraded to DU bushings. And the matching F 232 One cross-country fork has a new, shorter offset to offer more trail options for the variety of modern cross-country geometries.

If you want to be fast on the bike - for example under pressure from the competition on a cross-country course - you need a lockout. For the suspension elements and for the dropper post. This is where DT Swiss steps into the breach and presents new lockout levers that keep the suspension and seatpost in check.

The star pupil in the wheel department catches the best in class when it comes to brakes. Or to put it another way: DT Swiss is getting brake specialist Trickstuff on board. DT Swiss also wants to establish a foothold in Freiburg im Breisgau with the acquisition.

With e-mountain bikes, riders cover a lot of elevation and Elevation loss, average speeds are higher - especially uphill - than with their non-motorized counterparts and the bikes weigh significantly more. DT Swiss already responded to these demands in 2017 with the hybrid technology wheels. Now comes a substantial update.

Durable, easy to maintain, cleverly designed and inexpensive: these are qualities that are attributed to the 350 hub from DT Swiss. The popular hub series is now receiving a substantial update, which also includes small details such as a notch on the end caps for easier maintenance.

The bike industry could take a leaf out of DT Swiss' book: The wheel is not reinvented every year and innovations are backwards compatible. This is exactly the case with a new toothed pulley freehub, which can also be retrofitted to older hub models.

Limited to 1000 units, DT Swiss is bringing the popular 240 hubs in a trendy oil slick look to specialist retailers. The "240 Oil Slick" is the latest generation of hubs with the latest Ratchet EXP freehub system.

It feels like there are hundreds of installation widths, axle dimensions, wheel sizes and, of course, several variants for bolting the brake rotor and cassette to the wheel. It's easy to lose track of everything. DT Swiss now wants to put a stop to this - with an app that uses a "DT Swiss ID" to provide a wealth of information about the Biel-based company's products.

It's not May that makes everything new at DT Swiss, but July: the new wheelsets of the 1501 Spline series have just been released, which have slimmed down by up to 180 grams thanks to carbon rims. The 1700 Spline series is also brand new and aims to position itself as a high-quality, good-natured wheelset.

There are very few products that can be found in almost all areas of cycling. This definitely includes the 240 hub from DT Swiss. BMX riders, mountain bikers, gravelers and triathletes, for example, count on it. How do you improve this legendary hub, which is already considered light, durable and reliable? DT Swiss now has the answer.

The Biel-based wheel specialists have long since made a name for themselves in the cross-country circuit as extremely good suspension fork manufacturers. In the Olympic year, DT Swiss is going one better and presenting innovations such as suspension forks and shock absorbers, but also for the first time a variable seatpost that stands out from the crowd.

DT Swiss relies on the stationary specialist trade as an important trade and service partner. This year, training courses specially developed for retailers will therefore be offered again between November 2019 and March 2020.

With the "1200 Spline", DT Swiss presents three system wheels of the latest generation, made for the respective area of application. The XRC, XMC and EXC models each have a specific, wide carbon rim with the best possible properties and stability for Cross Country, Allmountain and Enduro, with the lowest possible weight from 1412 grams.

DT DT Swiss had previously served the gravel clientele with a wheelset designed for cyclocross use. Now the Biel-based company is going all out for the booming market segment - and presenting three wheelsets for gravel bikes.

The test wheelset with the installed Ratched EXP hubs has been in use for around three weeks. After such a short time, there are no relevant test results, but we are happy to share our first impressions.

A more precise engagement, less material and therefore lighter weight, improved stiffness, simplified handling during service work and even more durable? DT Swiss promises to combine all of this in its new 180 hubs with Ratchet-EXP freehub.

World Championships don't just have a special status with the athletes. Many equipment suppliers also attach great importance to the highlight of the season, so much so that frames are sometimes repainted. DT Swiss, on the other hand, supplies its sponsored cross-country and downhill athletes with a total of 70 wheelsets in the World Championship design. This required a lot of preparatory work.

The Eurobike Award jury likes products from Switzerland: Bold wins an award for innovation and system integration on the new Unplugged Enduro. At DT Swiss, the travel-dependent damping and the combination of air and steel springs won laurels. And Benno Bikes, a lifestyle bike expert with Swiss roots, is honored.

Enduro pros Anita and Carolin Gehrig have been riding the "unknown" stealth-look suspension fork for six months. Now DT Swiss has admitted to being the creator of the black suspension fork: the "F 535 One" is an all-mountain suspension fork with travel-dependent damping at its heart, but it is not only intended to set new standards in this area. We were able to test the fork extensively in advance.

For decades, Shimano has relied on a standardized freehub body. Whether 7-speed or 11-speed cassette, it always fitted on the Shimano body. With the new XTR groupset, Shimano is introducing a 12-speed cassette with 10-51 teeth. This requires a new body - and so far this has only been available from DT Swiss and Shimano. Ride has asked Shimano whether other manufacturers will be joining them.

You can be annoyed by the "disruptive" machinations of the bike industry with the supposed standards - or you can look past them and make the best of it. Namely, experiment with the 26, 27.5 and 29-inch wheel sizes.

It's a blessing - and a curse at the same time: within just a few years, the bike industry has consigned 26-inch bikes to the grave, with 27.5 and 29-inch bikes now the order of the day. This diversity brings with it compatibility problems, but also represents an opportunity: On the same bike, you can get outstandingly different riding characteristics with different sized wheels. This is exactly what Ride will do.

DT Swiss is redesigning the 1700 Spline wheels for the coming season. The quintessence for the rims of the wheels, which will be used for cross-country, all-mountain and enduro racing, is clear: wider is better. The Biel-based wheel specialists also pack sustainable quality into the wheels, which is not immediately apparent.

The use of materials in cross-country has changed dramatically in recent years. As the most prominent example, Nino Schurter achieved his greatest successes on all-mountain wheels. Function no longer takes second place to weight. DT Swiss is therefore launching new, lighter and wider XRC and XMC Spline 1200 wheels and is also showing 29er prototypes for downhill riding.
