While nasty temperatures settle over Central Europe, the Canary Islands deliver temperatures in the pleasant range above 20 degrees, occasionally even in the summery segment around 30 degrees. Combined with the many trails, they have established the islands as a well-known getaway for winter-weary mountain bikers.

One of these islands is Tenerife, which has been known as a road bike region for many years, but is less popular with mountain bikers. Wrongly so, because the island offers some exceptionally great singletrail routes - apart from the exorbitant number of prohibition signs. These are ignored by mountain bikers, and for good reason: in the forests of Tenerife, you are usually on your own.
