"Based on feedback from our customers and dealers as well as the results of large-scale market research, we set ourselves the task of developing a Woom bike specifically for children aged six and over that is clearly different from the Woom bikes for younger children. After three years of development work, we are now launching the Woom Explore, a cool everyday bike and heralding a new design era at Woom with its launch," says Woom Marketing Manager Nicole Lunzer, summarizing the development process of the Explore.

"The new frame design with a flattened kink and more angular frame tubes gives the Woom Explore its very special, cool look. The new wheel geometry creates a sporty, dynamic riding position that optimizes handling while offering comfort," says Matthias Leite-Gürtner, product designer at Woom, describing the design of the new Explore. Leite-Gürtner also emphasizes that "one of the most important priorities in the development of the Woom Explore was to integrate components that offer both maximum comfort and maximum safety".

Powerful hydraulic disc brakes and adjustable brake levers ensure reliable braking and a safe feeling on any terrain - even in wet or difficult conditions, safe stopping is possible with little effort. The new, narrow Ergogrips, specially developed for children's hands, offer a perfect grip and enable fatigue-free gripping, even on longer tours. The lightweight and agile Billy Bonkers all-terrain tires from Schwalbe offer maximum grip, whether on asphalt, gravel or forest soil, so that kids can ride with full control and confidence.

"We have also paid special attention to the saddle. In collaboration with Selle Royal, we have developed a real game changer in terms of seating comfort. The new, ergonomic saddle has been specially adapted for every bike size and helps to ensure that every ride is a pleasant experience," says Leite-Gürtner.

Striking look & individual bike styling

The Woom Explore not only impresses with its technical details, but also with its striking design, which is specially tailored to the tastes of the target group. Kids aged 6 to 14, an age group that is already starting to develop their own style ideas, will find a sporty bike in the Explore that is tailored to their preferences. The new bike is available in four colors - woom red, magnetic blue, jungle green and neon coral - with a matte finish. The black frame components and rims give the Woom Explore its cool look.

Following the motto "Make your bike the way you like it", young cyclists can customize the Explore. "With cool stickers for the bike frame, kids have the opportunity to express their own style and make their own individual bikes. This appeals to older children in particular," explains Leite-Gürtner.

For the adventurers of tomorrow

"The development of the Woom Explore was kicked off by a market research study in 2021, which showed that there is still a lot of potential for us as a brand among older children. Numerous feedback from customers and retail partners, together with the current stagnating market dynamics and growing competition, have significantly influenced our new product line. With the Explore, we not only want to drive innovation, but also bring new momentum to the market and further develop the Woom brand in a targeted manner," explains Nicole Lunzer.

The result is the Woom Explore: a Woom bike that is specifically aimed at children aged 6 to 14 for the first time. "An age group that no longer wants to be associated with childish attributes. Age-specific codes such as clothing, brand affinity and language influence their social behavior and their strict judgment of what is cool and what is not," says Lunzer, summing up the results of the market research study.

These and many other valuable findings have been incorporated into the development of the Explore. "With the Explore, we are underlining our leading role as a manufacturer of children's and youth bikes and once again setting a benchmark in the industry. At the same time, with the launch of the Explore, we are strengthening the Woom brand in its importance for the target group of older children," continues Lunzer.
